2021 - FIRST Infinite Recharge At Home

The Game

Since there wasn’t any in person competitions due to COVID, FIRST provided us with at home games to do with the team. For two weeks, the team gathered in the gym using our robot from last year to complete the tasks. All FRC teams were divided into 40–50 groups. Every game had different criteria that robots were scored on, and the team with the most amount of points in their group would win a blue banner.

Additionally, we were required to build a game for another challenge, which we conducted online via Discord. In the game we made called Monkey Madness, bananas—which were actually cones—were hung upside-down from railings. Each cone was individually colored and set at various levels. The higher the cone, the more points the robot earns. The robots had to grab the cones from the rails like monkeys in order to win the game.

Awards

Our team was in the Antimony group for the at home challenges and came out with outstanding scores, winning the Excellence in Engineering Award and was the winner of the Skills Competition for the group, bringing home a blue banner. For the game design challenge, there were separate groups and we were in the Ruthenium group. In this group, we won the Designers Award.
