Skunk Works Robotics is a component of Raisbeck Aviation High School, located in Seattle, Washington. We are registered as Team 1983 with FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). Our name, Skunk Works, is inspired by Lockheed Martin's top secret Skunk Works program, where the company designed many famous aircraft such as the SR-71 Blackbird. We have long since passed our rookie year, and strive to evolve, grow, and improve with each year.
While robotics is our passion, we, the Skunks, recognize that FIRST calls upon us to do more than just build robots. Through Skunk Works Robotics, we are active promoters of FIRST in other schools and communities. By encouraging students to pursue education and employment in STEM fields, FIRST works to preserve the country's economic strength and advance global competitiveness.
What is FIRST Robotics?

It's easy as pie!
Welcome to the kitchen of Skunk Works Robotics Team 1983! We’re whipping up a batch of P.I.E. with the best recipe you’ll find: Passion, Impact, and Excellence. Passion is the key ingredient in our crust and holds our team together. Impact is the filling and touches students and community alike. Excellence is the top crust: the quality of our team in every situation and the beautiful top of our pie. You can smell our world-renowned PIE from miles away, and not just because we’re skunks. Our PIE was served to over 90,000 people at 110 events in the past 3 years, raised over $75,000 from businesses, and impacted 70% of Washington’s Legislature.
